I always hear complaints about Windows and how Macintosh is better cause it never crashes and allows you to do more than a PC does. Well, I'm a little tired of it, personally I think both are worse than Linux however, that's not the point I'm trying to make. What most people are not aware of is that to judge an OS or compare two different OS's, you'll need to build a custom PC or buy a Server.
You see, the thing that Apple is doing right is that they build their machines powerful enough to handle everything smoothly. On the other hand, when you buy a PC it's not built by Microsoft, instead, your'e buying from a third party manufacturer who doesn't really care about how well the OS runs as long as it works. So they sell you old technology for a new price, it works out nicely as higher resource requirements insure that you will have to replace your machine within a short given period of time.
Manufacturers like HP and Gateway are the biggest culprits in the industry of selling yesteryears technology for todays prices to run todays media and software, but that's what you get when your looking for the best price on the market.
Alternatively, you can save some money by building your own PC based on the latest Server architecture, install your flavor of Windows (I know, not many to choose from) and you got a comparable PC to the best Mac you can buy. Or, just take that old PC, get rid of Windows, Install your flavor of Linux (I know, too many to choose from) and enjoy the unparalleled reliability, performance and security that you expect from your OS.
